A jam-rock song, weighing in at a full 10 minutes long. From 1989 and my break-up/mourning period of fully depressing love sick songs.
Recorded in 1989/90, written just after a very emotional breakup with my then girlfriend (breakups always bring out the most productive writing periods in my life). Like Neil Young's "Tonight's The Night" period, I wrote a bunch of thoroughly heart breaking songs that brought everyone down. Now it just seems bittersweet. A true garage rock song, featuring two drummers, a percussionist, guitarist, keyboardist and extraneous noises.
Possibility of Love (Sad Song) by Lee Shapiro 1990
Oh, Where have you been?
Its been more than a lifetime.
Did you finally win
The heart of a lover you could never find?
Changes have come,
I was a different man for a while.
The course had been run,
I never did go that extra mile.
But its out there, for me to see
And its in you, for you to believe
And the only thing that changes is your mind.
Well we danced for a while
And told ourselves its a sin
I saw your fading smile
And heard your father call you in
Did you pull back the reins
On the possibility of love?
And you played those games
That I always thought you were above
Sad song.
Sad song for me
Sad song
Sad song for me.
