Vocals and Additional Arrangements by Jane Siskind
I'm always looking for talented vocalists to work with. I've known Jane since grade school and she has always had one of the most beautiful singing voices for as long as I can remember. It only took 40+ years for me to write a song that thought would be a good fit for her.
In the tradition of Linda Ronstadt's "When Will I Be Loved" this is an up tempo song, with less-than-up lyrics about being with someone that doesn't listen or understand you.
Standing on the Moon
My life is an open book
But you don't seem to want to read it
You can't see if you don't look
Don't say you know me if you don't mean it
Dont want a love thats so out of reach
What are you so afraid of?
You won't learn and I can't teach
Not in the ways of love
CHORUS:
You taught me the meaning of lonely
When you're standing in the very same room
I won't repeat it, so listen closely
You might as well be standing on the moon
I dont want your vacant eyes
Staring at me from above
Im not going to compromise
Not in the ways of love.
There's the door, just leave the same way
With someone else on your mind
I didn't mean to lead you astray
I guess Im not the girl you thought youd find.
BRIDGE:
But it's you that taught me, you taught me oh so well
And there's nothing really more, nothing more to tell
CHORUS:
You taught me the meaning of lonely
When you're standing in the very same room
I won't repeat it, so listen closely
You might as well be standing on the moon
