And yet another song about time, aging, life, and all the possibilities of the future. This song tries to put a positive spin on the theme.
It was recently my 56th birthday, and I've been doing a lot of thinking about life, aging, spirituality, and the illusive nature of time.
The abstract concept of time fascinates me, which is probably why I write so many songs about it.
You could lose your mind thinkin’ ‘bout time
And the slippery years gone by
Another song with meter and rhyme
Give it just a little try
One for luck, two for love
And the race against the clock
Three for fear, for all or none
When the roulette wheel stops
I think too much about it
Need to take a mind vacation
Not much I can do about it
Not much to change the situation
Can’t slow down desperation
Can’t slow down time
No amount of determination
Can get you out of my mind
CHORUS:
Eternity’s got a hold on me
Find the courage to stare it down
And when she finally sets me free
I’ll be ready for another round
And when time reads the clock on the wall
Just look the other way
You might stand, you might fall
Either way you’ll be okay
One for life, two for sight
I can see it all ahead
Three for hope, all for might
And the things you wish you said
We are all the same
Underneath our own fears
As soon as we’re on the same page
It’s time to dry those tears
Can’t slow down as time goes by
Can’t slow down this train
No amount of trying
Will erase all that blame
CHORUS:
Eternity’s sets my soul free
And love will bring it back home
Eternity as far as you can see
Find your love or find yourself alone
BRIDGE:
Find your yourself.
Or find yourself alone
Find your love.
Or find yourself alone
